New to the Site?
Recently, we've added new people to our free mailing list, and many of them have questions about who we are, what we're about, and just what is going on with the current legislative process. They've also had questions about what has happened in the past that has led us to today. We've kept a comprehensive website and a comprehensive archives of all our past newsletters that will answer most of your questions. But where to begin?
This page is designed to give you pointers as to how best to navigate the website to access the material that is important to you in order to understand the history of the situation. But we encourage you to poke around more than what we suggest. You'll find a lot of information available on the site. We've also designed it to include the actual URL's so that if you want to print off the page, you can use it as a separate guide and still know where you are.
If you have any other questions, please click here to contact us we'd be happy to answer them for you.
To learn about the BLMTB Board click on the "About Us" tab on the upper left corner of this webpage or follow this link: http://blmtb.org/aboutus.html You'll find out about our purpose, and our bios.
Of particular note, read the Founder's Bios and the "Background" -- they'll both give you some insight as to how we got started. And so will our very first newsletter. The shortcut to get there is to click this link: http://blmtb.org/images/Update_2004_03.pdf But how would you find your way there otherwise? Go to the upper left corner of this webpage, click on the "Archives" tab, the "News/Updates/Alerts" subtab, click on the "2004-2005 Archives" link and there you will find a link to our first newsletter.
To find out what the BLMTB thinks about legislative issues first go to: http://blmtb.org/legislative/positionpaper.html (It is normally found by clicking the "Legislative" tab and "Position Paper" subtab in the top right corner of the webpage). This Position Paper will tell you our position on legislative issues. It was written quite a while ago, but the basic premise of what we believe is in that paper.
However, we've added something new to the mix that is not included in that paper: Health Freedom This link http://blmtb.org/healthfreedom.html will tell you about Health Freedom in General. (The information is normally found by clicking on the "Health Freedom" tab in the upper left corner of the page.) Our June update: http://blmtb.org/images/2008_05_NL_General_021.pdf gives you specific information why we support a health freedom bill. The usual way to find that info would be to go to the "Archives" tab, the "News/Updates/Alerts" subtab, then looking for our June 2008 update.
The issues with the AMTA-MT chapter go back several years prior to the founding of the BLMTB (early 1990s).
Again, we are not anti-AMTA. In fact we have worked with the AMTA in the past. What we are concerned about is maintaining transparency and ensuring that if licensure is passed that it helps, not hinders our profession. This means that sometimes we've been supportive of the AMTA and at other times, not.
If you've read any of the info from the links above, by now you'll know that the BLMTB was formed as a result of what happened in the 2003 legislative session. If you are interested in really reading a meaty paper on what happened in 2003, here it is. http://blmtb.org/archives/generalarchives.html Click on "2003 Legislative Process Analysis"
(it's a bit long, but gets into specifics as to what happened back then).
To find that type of information normally, you'd click on the "Archives" tab, the "General Archives" subtab and click on the file name provided above.
As far as other issues with the AMTA, You can go to our newsletter archives http://blmtb.org/archives/newsupdatesalerts.html (again, found by clicking on the "Archives" tab and the "News/Updates/Alerts" subtab) and begin reading newsletters from 2004 onward. Of particular interest would be:
