Volunteer Opportunities:
     for Practitioners AND Consumers/clients

Practitioners:  What you can do:
  1. Sign up to Volunteer!!  Click here to do that.
  2. Recruit your clients to help.  Below is a list of things clients (consumers) can do.  We develop personal relationships with our clients that tend to go above and beyond the relationships that allopathic care givers have with theirs.  This is our greatest asset, and we need to show that this is a consumer effort too. Click here for tips on recruiting clients.
  3. Tell every practitioner that you know about this.  Recruit them to become a volunteer too.  Click here for tips how to recruit practitioners.
  4. Contact your legislator now.  Click here for information how to do this.
  5. Sign up to contact the legislature during the upcoming session. (this makes a huge difference and it's easy to do -- you call a central number, and ask to leave a message for up to 5 legislators, or even a whole committee... or go online and submit an email).  We'll let you know when the time comes who to contact and what to say to be most effective.  When you sign up, be sure you tell us what you're signing up for.  Click here to sign up to be a volunteer.
  6. If you belong to a state or national organization where the Montana Health Freedom Coalition can get a formal endorsement for the project, please contact our legislative liaison - click here to contact her.
  7. Consider being a "voice" for your profession who can speak for that constituency at hearings in Helena.
  8. Sign up to go to Helena:  sometimes all we need are warm bodies in the audience supporting our viewpoint.  If you can do that, we need those kinds of volunteers too.
  9. And finally – money:  make a donation.  We know that many of us are struggling, but any little bit helps.  Donations may be sent to:  BLMTB c/o Deb Kimmet / PO Box 1252, Missoula, MT.  The BLMTB is a not-for profit organization that has agreed to screen our donations.  Be sure to put that the donation is for the MHFC in the memo.
  10. And if you really want to help out in a big way, volunteer to be our volunteer coordinator.

Consumers/Clients & The General Public:  What you can do:
  1. Tell all of your non-licensed health care providers about this effort, if they don't know about it already.  Ask them to get involved.  Non-licensed health care practitioners include everyone practicing alternative health care except: naturopathic physicians, acupuncturists, chiropractors and lay midwives.  This means your herbalist, massage therapist, bodyworker, yoga practitioner, personal trainer, etc.  (click here for information on how to do that).
  2. Recruit your friends to get involved. (click here for information on how to do that).
  3. Sign-up to volunteer!  (click here to do that).
  4. Contact your legislator now (click here for information how to do this).
  6. Do you have a story to tell?  Would you like to tell that story at a legislative hearing, whether it is via a letter that we read for you or you telling the story in your own words?  We'd like to know!  Please contact our legislative liaison.
  7. Sign up to go to Helena:  sometimes all we need are warm bodies in the audience supporting our viewpoint.  If you can do that, we need those kinds of volunteers too.
  8. And finally – money:  make a donation.  We know that many of us are struggling, but any little bit helps.
  9. And if you really want to help out in a big way, volunteer to be our volunteer coordinator.

These lists are just the tip of the iceberg.  If you can think of other ways to help out, let us know.
Our goal is to develop a phone and email list of consumers and practitioners that we can use to help enact a Consumer Health Care Freedom of Access Law in Montana.
